Capcom said they had an announcement to make at Comic Con at it ended up being a rather special one – the Street Fighter IV team were hard at work making Street Fighter X Tekken, bringing the likes of Heihachi and Nina to the Street Fighter universe. If that was not exciting enough, Namco later confirmed that they would be producing Tekken X Street Fighter which would see the Street Fighter characters fighting in 3D fighting areas against the Tekken crew. I am a huge fan of both franchises though do recognise that Tekken 6 was a huge disappointment, mostly due to the godawful side scrolling story mode. Both games are due around 2011, and we should also be seeing a downloadable version of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. Who would have thought that beat em up’s would make such a comeback, and with Capcom doing so many collaborations will we maybe see a Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat crossover?

EVO 2010 Finals
0 CommentsWhile a little thing called the World Cup final was happening, over 3000 fighting game fanatics had invaded Las Vegas for the annual Evolution Championship Series to prove that they are best at Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6 and other popular beat-em-ups. Check out the videos below of the finals of the Street Fighter IV and Tekken finals and cry at how good these people are at pulling off special moves. Time to practice for 2011. Somebody should book the 02 Arena for a UK version.

No need to waster time searching for those clips, they will be in one handy website. First up is a true classic from 2004, featuring two of the greatest Street Fighter players in the world, Daigo Umehara (Ken) and Justin Wong (Chun-Li). Daigo only has a slither of energy left, prompting Wong to use Chun-Li’s hou-yoko-sen which even if blocked would win the battle. What happens is a brilliant moment. This clip never fails to bring a smile to my face. If you have never seen it before, enjoy!
Bank Holiday Hijinks

A lot of you will have spent the holiday playing Super Street Fighter 4, so why not hold your own tournament during the next one? Capcom are looking for people to hold tournaments in their local area and will supply posters, name brackets and other goodies to help. They will also promote the event on their forum and your winner will be crowned “Official Local Community Super Street Fighter IV Champion”. Nice. Super Street Fighter 4: Worst pre-order Bonus Ever

Speaking of pre-order bonuses, when was the last time you turned up to grab a game on release day and found it was sold out? It’s not exactly a massive problem, right? The videogame industry is growing year on year, and retail chains are smart enough to order exactly one metric fucktonne (MFt) of every new release to ensure every braying customer desperate to fork over their hard earned cashola gets a chance to do so.
Really, there’s no need to pre-order games, apart from the awesome pre-order bonuses. Statues, art books, the little accessories that give you a warm shiver — they’re worth the extra effort, and it’s why people still pre-order. For awesome stuff.

EDIT: Also, those guys should clean up their apartment. Popcorn and old takeaway flyin’ all over the shop. Also also, why aren’t they playing Street Fighter? They just got the game right?!
