The problem with politics is it can feel like your duely appointed representative is prone to profiting from their posistion.
Well, the dear people of Sweden have taken this to heart, and have found a way of giving birth to that rarest of oxymorons- honest politicians! We here at the Spectre can understand the need to get elected on a platform that involves pillaging and drinking all the grog (Especially in Sweden, where booze is EXPENSIVE!), but unfortunately it seems this particular Pirate Party is only interested in open copyright laws, although this may now be enough to secure them a seat at the Euro Parliament.
Still, nice to see the power of 3-years-out-of-date teenage voters in action.

More drama on the seas as Somali pirates manage to take over and steal one of the biggest oil tankers in the world.
The Sirius Star — a crude “super tanker” flagged in Liberia and owned by the Saudi Arabian-based Saudi Aramco company — was attacked on Saturday more than 450 nautical miles southeast of Mombasa, Kenya.
And weirdly enough, the world’s Navies aren’t doing too much about it…
…the Navy does not expect to dispatch a vessel to aide the super tanker because it does not have dangerous weapons aboard like the MV Faina, a Ukrainian ship loaded with arms that was seized by pirates on September 25.
In fact they are advising the shipping companies to take their own action. A Navy spokesman said…
Shipping companies have to understand that naval forces can not be everywhere. Self protection measures are the best way to protect their vessels, their crews, and their cargo
Looks like Blackwater have a new area to expand their business into…

Tentacles are obviously going to be big this year, and hopefully the sea-beast on the end of them will kill off all the pirates still hanging around outside the Intrepid Fox on a Friday night, which means they are all right with us. Anyway, we also like comic books here (and so should you) and here is the first of a wave (Hopefully) of tentacle manga the like of which we haven’t seen since the glory days of Overfiend. Rejoice Cthonic types, and read The Dark Goodbye
Basically, it’s the Big Sleep with added Lovecraftiness, which has to rule right?
