On Friday Capcom were kindhearted enough to invite us round to their place for a spot of tea. and by ‘their place’ we mean a hollowed out railway arch in South London, strewn with sandbags and rusted oil drums, and decked out with military-grade camouflage. And a coffee bar. And several rows of beautiful televisions hooked up to Xbox 360s, beckoning the assembled gaming press to get to grips with Capcom’s upcoming Lost Planet 2.

The Wii is a funny old thing. Having opened up gaming to everyone and their gran, we now have to deal with the inevitable deluge of shovelware and minigame collections cobbled together and sold by the thousands to unsuspecting families hoping for something that’ll bring the family together. In this brave new world there’s very little incentive for developers to make these games anything even approaching playable or innovative, and so Squeeballs deserves recognition for making a bold attempt at bringing something new to the evolving party-genre. If you’re anything like me then a lifetime of playing videogames has imbued you with a hyperactive imagination and terrible, fraught dreams. I’ve lost count of the times that I’ve fought the urge to shoot a CCTV camera, (with a silenced pistol obviously) and there’s a part of me that wants to dive behind anything that looks like it might provide some kind of short-term cover from enemy-fire.
But more powerful even than these is the curious daydreaming fantasy where I turn everyday real-life locations into multiplayer deathmatch maps. Therefore I want to enquire of you, dear readers: Which real-life locations would make awesome multiplayer maps, and why.
My personal favourite (to get the ball rolling) would be the quad back at my old school. I know how to get up into the old clock tower, which would make an excellent sniping-point.
