How did you spend your Saturday morning? A nice lie in? A lovely day in the park or at the beach? Or were you one of the hundreds that went down to UNIQLO Oxford Street, London to meet Hideo Kojima and Yoshi Shinkawa to celebrate the release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSP? I underestimated how big this event would be. HMV had a signing on the Friday which I thought the majority of fans would go to, so booked my early morning train to London happy that I when I arrived the queue would not be too long. I was very wrong. People had started queuing at 10pm the night before, over 12 hours before the signing was due to begin. When I arrived around 8am there were over 300 people there. I have to give praise to UNIQLO for some great organisation. While in the queue, staff came around with a rack so people could see the new Metal Gear Solid T Shirt range, then they brought round order forms so we could reserve shirts and keep our space in the line. The shop was opened early and the line began to move inside the store. We then received our tshirt orders, heard some bizarre announcements over the tannoy and around noon I finally got to greet Kojima and Shinkawa. I have been to events like this in the past involving bands and even WWE Wrestlers, but I have never seen anything like the crowds at UNIQLO. Want to see some shaky cam video soundtracked to the Peace Walker theme? Your wish is my command.

METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER is released for PSP on 18 June 2010, and to celebrate its launch, UNIQLO has produced a collection of 10 limited edition UT t-shirts, exclusively available at selected UNIQLO stores and online from Saturday 19 June, priced at £12.99 each. Each UT t-shirt comes with its own special code, that when entered into METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER game, unlocks the purchase so the t-shirt can worn by a character within the game.
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER is the latest addition to Konami’s best-selling series of stealth-based action titles and sees series hero Naked Snake embark on a mission to South America during the Cold War.
To celebrate the launch of the game and the UNIQLO UT collection, Hideo Kojima and lead artist Yoji Shinkawa will be making a one-off appearance at UNIQLO’s London flagship store on Oxford Street, on Saturday 19 June, where they will be signing copies of METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER and exclusive postcards. Both will sign one item per person and will be in-store from 11:00am-1:00pm.

The Metal Gear Solid series has always been a bit odd but the latest entry in the series looks like being the most far out of all with the announcement of a crossover with Monster Hunter! What first looked like a handheld spin-off now feels like a proper full on edition in the Metal Gear Solid series with the amount of effort being put in by the development and marketing teams.
