We haven’t reported much on the ongoing clusterfuck in the Middle East on Electric Spectre, because
1) There are far more qualified people to do it,
2) Casting an irreverent eye on the proceedings is a bit of a shitty thing to do,
3) The fact that this really could escalate into nuclear war is a little too real for our comic book adjusted eyes to comprehend.
However.
We have to report on Al Jazeera’s realtime war tracker. Mashing together every conceivable way of reporting the war into one handy app, much akin to the Doom Tracker, The tracker is what can happen when the full might of Web 2.0 is brought to war. Horribly addictive to look at, it is the future of news. All the reports of death and destruction being fed into one easily readable, clickable map. It both sanitizes the war and brings it right into your lap.
Just pray it doesn’t get made into a facebook app.

Thanks to the Emergency And Disaster Information Service we now have a handy way to track the multitude of crapola being showered on the planet. The map dynamicly updates when a new disater strikes, pretty much any disaster. (No godzilla Alerts yet though) For example, I now know that at the time of writing one person in Dorset, England was killed in flash flooding, and many, many volcanoes are erupting. Amazing.

A weird circular formation in Eastern Russia has been spotted on Google Maps. Ok, so it’s far more likely to be a crater with contaminated water pouring into it from unsafe Russian factories or a strip mine full of chemicals, but it would be nice to think aliens have been growing bases in remote parts of the world. Odd choice of colour though.
