Mininova.org, formerly the world’s (second) most popular source of bittorrent files has, today, closed its doors to the unruly world of illegal filesharing.
The news popped up on their blog, read the full post for all the info here, but it seems as if they have bowed to some kind of pressure from the Dutch Court of Utrecht, who deemed the site unlawful way back in August.
Mininova will still be running a content distribution service, but this effectively marks the end for it’s pirate-enabling swashbuckery.
Electric Spectre wishes to make clear that it never used the site, and never benefited from it’s easy-to-use interface and helpful community, and as such is not upset by this news and is in no way concerned with finding a site of equivalent quality in the future.

Ever since George Harrison got all beardy weirdy on us, Yoga has been big business among dipsy hippyish types who assume it’s all spiritual n shit. This is probably rubbish, but it doesn’t mean we at the ES office have anything against young women spending all their cash on becoming more flexible (and occasionally sweaty in the process), which is why today’s news from the subcontinent disturbs us so much.
It seems that, far from being spiritually calm, Guru’s in India are now taking steps to patent every last one of the ancient back-breaking moves involved. It seems they’re pretty pissed off at some teachers in (where else) the U.S, who’ve been trying to patent these moves as their own. The statutory swami’s have assembled a team of 200, including language experts and scientists, to study, translate and patent ancient texts that identify the core moves of Yoga. So, firm-bodied types all round – good work Hinduism!

In the USA Litigation is a way of life, but for London resident Gary Mckinnon, its become a way of extra-terrestrial life as well. Seems Gary, who suffers from mild autism, which might explain his actions, took it upon himself to expand on his interest in Science Fiction, by hacking into NASA’s central computers and having a good old rummage, leading to his arrest and accusation of causing around $800,000 worth of nework and programming damages. So far, so low-level illegal.
Unfortunately for the US Gov’ment, seems Gary’s defence partially rests on the fact that while in there, he turned up some..’interesting content’. Yep you guessed it, UFO cover-ups, free energy sources, and all the other X-files shite that goverments keep in the laundry basket.
He’s being supported by the nutjobs/whistle-blowers over at the Disclosure Project too, so hopefully it’ll all come out in the wash and we can finally get those teleporters and ray-guns we’ve been hankering for.
