A Poke In The Eye For Blindness

We’ve often reported on attempts to make the blind (or partially sighted but attention starved artists) see, but now science is hell-bent on allowing them to point out items of interest too. It seems that George Stetten, of Pittsburgh University, has decided that cameras mounted on your fingertips would be a good idea…probably…for some reason…Anyway, the cams are set to have incredibly advanced motion recognition software included, so they can pick up particularly specific items (For example, that yellow mumu you got for your blind cousin as an ill-concieved prank) like light switches or complex controls, giving the blind or partially sighted much greater freedom and ability in the workplace. So, blind people running heavy construction equiptment. Marvelous.
