Yeah yeah; another day, another Kinect hack.
But to be honest this kind of remeinded us of the holodeck, and we can’t wait to see it adapted for first-person shooters in an arcade environment….

Protect Our Saves

The Wii, PlayStation Move and Xbox Kinect have all been produced to attract an expanded market gaming, but you need to be very careful about getting non-gamers involved in the hobby, as a story from my past proves.
I used to stay with my grandparents alot on weekends, and I tried to get my granpa interested in my PlayStation, playing him at my favorite game at the time WWF Attitude. We had some fun bouts and he got used to the control pad quite quickly. One Sunday afternoon after some matches I went to see some friends. When I returned my granpa informed me he had been playing a game while I was out. The aim of the game was to get rid of the flashing squares.
I was confused. I didn’t own any puzzle games and he said he had not put a disc in the machine. A shudder came over me. I ran to the tv and fired up the console and went straight to my memory card directory. Every save was gone. The flashing squares that my granpa was blasting away were actually saved games. These days consoles are home to downloadable games and film downloads so be extra careful to back up as much as you can before getting the whole familt round our you could lose more than just saves.
Bands On Games: Young Guns

Bands On Games: Orphan Boy

Escape the E3 madness by checking out what games and gadgets have caught the eye of Smiffy, the lead singer of Orphan Boy. The Pop/Rock trio from Cleethorpes have their new single ‘Pop Song’ available to download from July 19th which will be followed by their album ‘Passion, Pain and Loyalty’ on CD and download on August 2nd. Hitman Movie Sequel

Those people in Hollywood love their money, and want to make a sequel to one of the worst films ever made – Hitman. Now the vast majority of games that are made into films are pretty awful, but I really hated Hitman and I am very thankful I watched the film through a trial to Lovefilm instead of handing over any cash. Star Timothy Olyphant wasn’t a big fan either telling The Guardian he hated shaving his head and did the film for the money.
Deadline reports that Fox are after Spanish ad director Daniel Benmayor to direct the follow up to the highly profitable first film. Benmayor has recently completed work on Bruc about a 19th Century Catalan drummer boy who helps gives Napoleon’s army its first taste of defeat. Sounds interesting.
On the subject of game adaptations, filming should also be underway for a sequel to Silent Hill, which I rather enjoyed, and we are also getting a new Resident Evil film at the end of the year in glorious 3D. It is highly doubtful that any of these will be any good.
