Real Life L.A. Noire

Anyone who has played L.A. Noire will appreciate this hilarious clip from Funny or Die. The sketch highlights just how bad the ‘Doubt’ dialogue option can be in the game, turning the nice caring main character into a screaming maniac.

Reality Fighters

I might be going a bit mad. Sony showed off the PlayStation Vita, formerly known as NGP, at E3 with some great titles including Uncharted 2 and LittleBigPlanet but all I can think of is the augmented reality fighting game Reality Fighters. The games uses the consoles front camera to take a picture of you to use as a character, the back camera then provides a background to fight on. It looks insanely gimmicky, but also really fun! Somehow, this has become my most wanted game. I need a lie down.

The PlayStation Vita is due out at the end of 2011, though it looks like this will be the Japanese release with Western countries getting the handheld in early 2012. Check out the introductory video below:

Nintendo have shown off their brand spanking new console at E3, and it has left people rather confused – which might be a good thing as the original Wii did that too. It was a rather strange unveiling as Nintendo did not show off the system, leading many to believe that the new controller was an accessory for the Wii. We also had no first party games – instead some tech demos and a list of third party titles including Batman Arkham City and Darksiders 2. We had a vague 2012 release date, no mention of disc format and no idea of pricing whatsoever. Sounds like a piece of nonsense, right? Well check out the awesome introductory video and you may find yourself wanting one, despite having little to no information about it – and deep down you know there is going to be some great games featuring Mario, Link and company.

It is a bit of a shock seeing a successor from the Wii before a new Xbox or PlayStation as it is still the best selling console out there. The third party support is very reassuring, seeing as it dried up on the Wii, and the dual stick controller and HD capabilities should mean more games that play like their Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts – but with cool features on the touch screen instead of half arsed motion controls. Imagine playing Aliens: Colonial Marines with the screen as a motion scanner.

Hopefully we will get more details very soon and maybe an early 2012 launch date? Any later will make the Wii U a bit late to the Darksiders and Batman party on the PS3, Xbox and PC.

Halo 4

Microsoft have accidentally updated their E3 website announcing Halo 4 a few hours before their major press conference. Oops. Also revealed is the long rumored Halo Remake, Dance Central 2 and Ryse, the new name for Codename: Kingdom from Crytek which is a ‘cinematic’ game for Kinect. While the cat is out the bag it will be worth tuning in to see trailers of the games.
