How to Destroy Google TV Before it Begins
0 CommentsWith the biggest most complicated remote control ever made. What are Sony thinking? At least it won’t get lost down the back of the sofa.
Worst Accessory Ever

The ‘technical features’ written by the company making this are better than anything that I could ever write, so here they are in unedited form. The first and last lines are magnificent.

3D Without Glasses
0 CommentsToshiba are releasing two 3D TV’s in December – and you won’t need an overpriced pair of glasses to watch pointy bits come out of the screen. Hurrah! However they are rather smaller, coming in at 12 and 20 inches and will initially only be out in Japan but it’s a good step forward to push 3D TV into the mainstream (though do we really want it?). The major advantage of these TV’s is that you can have a bunch of friends round to enjoy some 3D action without shelling out ridiculous amounts for glasses. Imagine inviting a couple of people over to watch football and you only have two pairs – do you shell out another £100 for another pair or let them sit watching a blurry mess. With these new TV’s you just need to crowd round the dinky screen. Will this craze die out soon? I’ve not been a huge fan of 3D movies at the cinema, but could see 3D being rather nifty and useful for games. Still, with most people still playing on SD TV’s 3D has a big battle to be dominant in living rooms.
Panasonic Enter the Handheld Jungle
0 CommentsPanasonic seem to be gluttons for punishment. Not content with the 3DO disaster, the company has decided there is not enough competition in the handheld space and have revelealed the Panasonic Jungle – a portable console dedicated to online gaming. The machine is meant to have a very tasty screen and will be launching with a BattleStar Galatica MMORPG to show that they mean business, but I feel that the machine will struggle to find an audience in a world full of iPhones, DS’s and PSP’s. If they can convince Blizzard to port World of Warcraft to the console it could well be a market leader, but that would also lead to zero productivity in workplaces across Britain. Still, it has a custom version of Linux as the operating system so it might be a nifty device to play SNES and Mega Drive emulators.
