Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time was a rare film, a videogame movie that was actually rather decent, and one that the whole family could enjoy. There was something for everyone – beautiful locations, giant setpieces, a snarling Ben Kinglsey, beautiful Gemma Arterton,a buff Jake Gyllenhaal and a magical, mystical dagger.
After a healthy run at the cinema, the film is available for home release on September 13th on a variety of formats.
Disney have been one of the best studios for Blu-Ray releases, with fantastic HD transfers and special features. Heck, it’s worth going Blu to see the OTT brilliance of the Disney Blu Ray logo that appears at the start of all films on the format. The studio have also been fantastic for allowing people to buy a home release in the formats they need. For instance you can pick up Prince Of Persia as a single DVD, or on Blu-Ray Double Play which contains the film on DVD as well as Blu-Ray, or even Triple Play which also contains a Digital Copy for iPods/Phones or Windows Media Devices. No need to pay more if you don’t need the extra formats, but the choice is there if you want the film to be accessible anywhere!
Special Features include a Making Of documentary, deleted scenes and the Blu-Ray features focus points where you can access behind the scenes the features while you are watching the film. Well worth settling down to on a cold damp Saturday evening in September, though you may feel a bit guilty when munching on your popcorn when Jake struts his stuff as the Prince.
