If you need a fix of Final Fantasy before the release of XIII on Tuesday, you will be glad to know that some classic entries in the series are available for quick and easy download.

First up is the first two games in the series which are available to download on iPhone and iPod Touch for £5.49 per game. Originally released for the NES in Japan back in 1987 and 1988, these two classic adventures return with updated graphics, sounds and controls to suit the fancy devices. Both games also feature extra dungeons, not available in the original 1987/1988 versions, allowing players to continue these epic adventures after completing the main story. Which is nice.
PS3 and PSP owners can also download Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII for £7.99 each. Both are hefty downloads – PSP owners will need to have at least 2GB available for each game – a good time to invest in a new memory stick. Final Fantasy VII is probably the best known of the series in the UK featuring fan favourites Squall and Sephiroth. The games are straight ports of the PS1 versions with no fancy new features. VIII is considered daft by many, but does feature some rather spectacular sequences. Hopefully IX will join them soon on PSN.
Who would have thought that back in the day you could be playing this massive adventures while on the bus? It boggles the mind.
