It feels like Christmas again with a glut of top drawer games on the way, and nothing screams Triple A quality game than a title filled with extras for a big pile of cash. Hey – it worked for Modern Warfare 2! Check out these Special Editions that are heading our way in the coming weeks, who knows you might something to compliment your night vision goggles and batarang from 2009.

Aliens VS Predator is geting two special editions, but only the Hunter Edition is truly special. (The other one comes in a tin with some download codes). For your extra cash you get a 3D lenticular poscard, a Weyland Yutani sleeve badge and best of all a fully posable facehugger model! Wait till night, put on your Modern Warfare Night Vision Goggles and plant this on a loved ones face. Relationship destroying fun right there. HMV are stocking this one and it costs £39.99 on PC, £59.99 on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Bioshock 2 is set in the 1960s and the contents of the special edition fit well with the time period. Play.com have the set on Xbox 360, PC and PS3 for a penny under £70 and here is what you get for the cash: Vinyl 180g LP featuring the orchestral score from the original BioShock, CD containing the BioShock 2 orchestral score, A 164 page 8″x11″ hardbound artbook chock full of developer commentary, Three rolled posters featuring vintage ads from Rapture.

The God of War games have always been over the top so this special edition is very fitting. You get a copy of the game, God OF War Collection featuring the first two games in HD, downloadable combat levels, downloadable chracter skins, a documentary on this history of the series narrated by Robocop – Peter Weller, soundtrack from the trilogy, a heavy metal homage to the series, an artbook and some postcards. All this comes in Pandora’s Box, modelled from it’s appearance in the first game. This pack will cost £109.99 on PS3 and is only available from GAME.

Heavy Rain looks like a classy game and it gets a rather classy special edition filled with downloadable extras. For no extra cost you get a voucher to download The Taxidermist, the first part of the Heavy Rain Chroncicles DLC, the soundtrack recorded at Abbey Road and an animated background for your PS3 main menu. This set is only available at HMV and costs £39.99 – the same as the standard edition.

Last but not least, we have Mass Effect 2 though bad news for Xbox 360 owners – it seems GAME, Gamestation and Gameplay have ran out of copies and only have the PC edition for £39.99. The pack includes bonus in–game weapon and armour, a hardback art book, a voucher for additional content, a Mass Effect comic and it all comes in a nice tin.
