New Bioshock 2 website gives us the shivers

Well – this is horrifying.

Now we at ‘leccySpectre don’t wish to sound vain, but we’re probably the manliest men on the planet. Even the women are bronzed Adonii, oozing sweat and heroism in equal measure. The Rocky 4 soundtrack plays whenever we enter the room – you get the picture.

But all the manliness in the world is not enough to steel us against the mouldering, creeping horror that is the new Bioshock 2 website. Gaming websites are generally pretty annoying – great flash behemoths that take forever and a day to load and then won’t tell you anything. This makes it all the more impressive when you find a site with real polish.

A creepy Rapture dollhouse is yours to play with

Polish is not the first word that springs to mind when you first set eyes upon this site. It’s got all the grimy, damp, dark and mildewed atmosphere from the first game, complete with a twinkly, straining violin melody playing over the sound of dripping water and humming generators. You’re given a little Rapture play-house to toy with – investigating the different rooms reveals videos and hints about the gameplay and storyline.

This creepy shadow shines a light on the Big Sisters' origins

Behind the scenes you can get some tasty wallpaper downloads (should you want to feel miserable and scared every time you minimise all your windows) and you can check out the forums and perhaps spark some crazy rumours.

clicking on this little scene launches you into brutal gameplay footage

We’d love to find out who the agency behind this masterpiece is – if you know, or if you are them – get in touch so we can thank you personally!

P.S. I listened to the ambient music on the site the whole time I was writing this, and now I think I need a hug.

The tiny doll with the pull-string voice is also deserving of mention. Eurgh.

I also neglected to mention the creepy tap-tapping noise. What the hell even is that?

I’ve literally shit my pants. Nothing to do with the game or the trailer, but I’ve done it anyway.
