Last week Electric Spectre spent a day running all over London and doing a lot of unusual stuff. Not out of the ordinary for the people involved in this blog you may say, but we mean REALLY unusual stuff.
This was all laid on by the lovely people from Smartbox - a company who specialise in experiences – rather than getting grandad a pair of socks for Christmas you can pack him off bungee jumping or to a boutique hotel in the Hebrides.
To show us journos what they had on offer they put us in teams, bundled us into a taxi and sent us out into town to do stuff. We were paired with the ace peopleĀ from Flavour Mag and some civilians and sent to a south London recording studio.
I’ve recorded four albums. Metal mostly, so I know the limits of my own voice. I have a range that falls between low grunt and high grunt. So singing White Christmas is slightly beyond my abilities. However Pod Music were lovely. They have assured us that we will be mixed until we resemble professionals… Also they plied us with Champagne, which is always a good thing.
Then we are bundled off to a Central London building of epic swank proportions to make our own fragrance under the guidence of The Perfume Studio. The ladies of the team create a lovely, elegant perfume they called Sweet Addiction, where as the guys made at least five Sex panther jokes and created a thing called KryptonKnight which, I have to say, wasn’t half bad.
We were then taken to Tower 42, shoved in a lift, armed with golf clubs and started hitting balls from the top. Yes, there was a net. Which was a shame. But probably for the best.

Finally we were taken back to swankathon building to have a lesson in cocktails from Cocktail In A Box (My B52 was epic.) and a prizegiving. Apparently we were in competition with other teams, but I was having too much fun to notice…
Kudos goes to all the companies involved SLAM PR and SmartBox for a rather epic day out
