Ok so Microsoft in their infinite wisdom and Rare-ownership are re-releasing Perfect Dark on the Xbox-live Arcade (if that’s three words why is the acronym XBLA?) and it’s going to be great. Online play, some re-vamped graphics, it’s sure to make consumers and nostalgia-fans very happy, and Rare programmers feel sad that they’re re-hashing great titles from yesteryear that they’ve never managed to beat.
Release date: Winter.
Winter? Really? When the hell is winter? I’m trying to enter ‘winter’ in my calendar but I can’t seem to find it. It’s even less helpful than the Quarterly system. (Release = Q2 for example)
The problem is that ‘winter’ is a relative term. Surely it’s winter now! How long will it be winter for? February perhaps? Or maybe until March… ‘course in other countries winter lasts a lot longer. So who knows…
This is possible petty to bitch about, considering just how awful videogames used to be in terms of release dates. Half-Life 2 anyone? Perhaps it’s just Rare/Microsoft covering their asses with vague-ness, but if I seem ungrateful, it’s only because I really, really want to play this game. Online. With no Elvis. (Because he’s like Oddjob in Goldeneye – you shoot over him by default.)
